The leather is thick enough that my tin snips don't poke through the bottom, which was my worry with open-bottom designs. It hangs off my belt without sagging even when I've got pliers and a square jammed in there.

Snapped my 25-foot tape and linesman pliers in here and the leather has already softened to both shapes after a week. The open bottom lets a long square pass straight through, which is why I stopped using my old nylon pouch.

The open bottom is the detail I didn't know I needed, my pliers slide right through so nothing gets stuck at the tip. The leather has already softened up after a couple weeks on the jobsite.
